Nadine encourages blogging for nature

JAKARTA: Expressing one’s thoughts and opinions by blogging has been all the hype this year. This online activity has been construed as either very narcissistic or very useful for others. Former beauty queen Nadine Chandrawinata wants to encourage the latter.
Working with blogdetik.com and Sea World, Nadine recently held a blogging competition aimed at nurturing the love for adventure in nature, in line with her appointment as one of the country’s environmental ambassador.
“I want bloggers to fall in love with nature and expose the beauty of Indonesian environmental tourism,” she said last week, as she announced the seven winners of the competition labeled Nadz Hope Blogging Contest.
“I’m glad many people participated. They shared stories about beautiful places around the country. I ended up with a lot of information on places to visit.”

Nadine co-produces film on Bajo people

JAKARTA: Model Nadine Chandrawinata co-produced a film on the people of Bajo, an ethnic tribe living in Wakatobi Island, Southeast Sulawesi.

The former Putri Indonesia co-produced the film The Mirror Never Lies, currently showing in Jakarta, with Kamila Andini, the daughter of famous filmmaker Garin Nugroho.

Nadine, who is an avid diver, said she wanted to do creative work related to the sea.

“This is the first time I am a co-producer. The film is based on the lives of these people in Wakatobi. I’m very optimistic [about environmental conservation there] as I’ve observed that 90 percent of the under water beauty [there] is still intact. The culture is very strong too,” she said as quoted by kapanlagi.com.

The film, starring Atiqah Hasiholan, Reza Rahardian and three Bajo children Gita Novalista, Eko dan Zainal, received an honorable mention at the Global Film Initiative last month.
